Lexus IS-F engine in a Miata? That would be fun. Finding an engine for sale is pretty easy. Ebay searching tells me they cost around $5k. I can’t find the exact weight of the IS-F engine or Miata engine. But the V8 is all aluminum and with that in the car I wouldn’t be running power steering, AC, or cruise control which would save weight. Not exactly the easiest swap but hey....

Nearly sure it would be too wide, pretty much every DOHC V engine is for the Miata.
There is a reason LS swaps are so ubiquitous

The 1gz-fe can be found for $3,000, it’s longer but possibly less wide.

I know other Lexus engines have been put in Miatas:/

The 1UZ fits, but I think it’s smaller than most DOHC V8’s.

My Googleing shows me it wasn’t available in a model the US got. There are Lexus engines that have been put in a Miata before, just not the IS-F engine.

Wait, the 5L V12 from a Toyota Century, for sale in the States, for $2800 f/s?
[deep breath]
I hope I win the lotto tonight and what manual transmission will mate with this engine!?

That maybe true, but I wouldn’t want to pay for the price of one transmission when I can buy 3 1GZ-FE for the same amount.
...maybe the 1GZ could be dropped in a GS sedan?

Just get an aluminum 5.3 ls for a song and a dance and make more power with just a cam.

But why would you do that when an LS3 is better in every way?

You’re making this too complicated and expensive...
...Just get the K-series swap from KMiata. https://kmiata.com/

I imagine an adapter plate between the stock bellhousing the the transmission. My internet search made it look like one for the uz series may work because they both run a similar 4 speed.

Its different, and I like the idea of keeping the motor Japanese. If I had the money to do this then logic doesn’t matter!

Have known of that swap. I don’t really have anything against Honda, I just wouldn’t put a Honda motor in my car.
